STRIP KITS

Carter released two different series of strip kits for carburetor performance modification. The first or 100 series was released about 1973. This consisted of a group of 16 kits numbers 10-101 through 1-116. These kits consisted of parts that were specifically tailored to popular individual carburetors. There were 4 kits for AFB, 1 kit for AVS, 2 kits for WCFB, and 9 kits for various Thermoquads. This group did not address ALL Carter 4 barrel carburetors. Interchange charts were printed by specific carburetor number to strip kit number. In August of 1977, a new series strip kit was announced (the kits were released about January of 1978). This second or 200 series consisted of only three kits. Part number 10-201 serviced the popular performance AFB, 10-202 serviced most AVS, and 10-203 serviced the later production TQ. Neither series addressed ALL Carter 4 barrel carburetors. We have taken information from several of the Carter Competition catalogs and combined it below. Please remember that the carburetor is part of the emission system of the engine. Modifying carburetors on 1968 and newer street driven vehicles is probably not legal. Modification of carburetors on 1967 and older street driven vehicles is not prohibited by the Clean Air Act of 1966, but may still not be legal in your locality. Check your applicable state and local laws. Race only or off-road only vehicles, to the best of our knowledge, are not at present subject to smog emission requirements.
